  • Multiple Choice papers - what could go wrong?

On the rubric of the muliple choice modular paper it states that "mark only one answer for each question. If you change your mind about an answer, rub out the first mark completly, then mark your new answer." This sounds foolproof but I have experience of large numbers of students sitting the...

  • 2381 Unit 2 stage 1 stage 2

Does anyone have the grade boundaries for the specimen papers? My year 10 are doing both exams on March 3rd and we have just done a mock. I would like to let the pupils know what grade they achieved in the mock. Also the height question on stage 2 could have said give your answer in metric units!

  • Mock Papers more than one set?

I thought that in November I saw a new set of mock papers on the edexcel website (for the linear 2 tier exam.) We have used the specimen papers already as mocks but would find it useful to look at other papers. Since I returned after Christmas I have not been able to find these papers. Did they ever...

  • Re: GCSE Mock Papers - results? good? bad?

We have used the mock papers that Edexcel provided. We felt the papers were very difficult and the results from the pupils supported this. Our A*-C % based on these results are down a lot and this is even with lowering the higher boundaries from 42 to 33 and from 42 to 38 respectively. I feel that an...

  • Grade C students - Foundation or Higher Tier?

Given this is the first year of the new 2-tier entry, I'm wondering whether to enter my 'safe' grade C students for higher or foundation. Can anyone offer any advice?

  • Re: Mock papers

Suggested grade boundaries for the mock papers are the same as those for the specimen papers and are shown below. Please remember that grade boundaries are set by examiners by looking at many scripts of students and with a lot of statistical data available to help them make judgements; we have had none...
