    Impact of using ResultsPlus

ResultsPlus: Has the information from ResultsPlus helped in your department? Have you changed anything in your teaching or schemes of work as a result of what you found out about your students in the summer?

we will be using it following our november exams, to regroup pupils based on needs, this will allow some to move on to GCSE Stats, some to retake at higher, some to retake at foundation, and for us to target particualr topics between jan and june

    Re: Impact of using ResultsPlus

I would like to be able to make use of ResultsPlus but unfortunately although Edexcel’s Managing Director, Jerry Jarvis, said:
“Student performance information, delivered by Results Plus, will enable teachers to help students maximise their own potential in core subjects" it appears that this is not the case for all teachers who use Edexcel. I teach visually impaired students and, unless things have changed since I last asked, the data of all my students are not included in the system!

If anyone has any suggestions as to how I can pursuade Edexcel to enable me to make use ResultsPlus for my students I would be extremely grateful.

We get the question level mark information that provides the foundation for the ResultsPlus service from our online marking system. Visually impaired students have enlarged papers which we are unable to scan and mark using this system. This means we do not have the question marks held for them electronically which, regrettably, prevents us displaying it in ResultsPlus. We are currently investigating how we might address this issue so as not to disadvantage these students in the future.

    Thank you for your reply.

I realise that it would take time to input the data for each individual student by hand but I do not know what the size of the task is. How many visually impaired students take your examinations in Mathematics?

    Re: Impact of using ResultsPlus

We used the results plus system after the summer exams for our then yr 10's now yr 11's. We follow the modular system so it was particularly useful to target revision for their resits at the start of this week.

The students found it informative and were delighted to see how they'd done and what areas they needed to work on. We will be using it again before their Unit 3 resits in March.

As for departmentally - well most of our teachers have looked at it and we talked about the areas we work hard in (we drill histograms into them) and it shows in the results. We also know we need to work more in questionnaires (maybe we took it a little for granted).

     Hope this helps

Can you let me know if ResultsPlus is the product offered for free by Edexcel or whether there is another product that sits below this one in functionality? We have blown our budget this year but are interested in this product.

Yes, all Edexcel GCE and GCSE centres have free access to the ResultsPlus Analysis service.

ResultsPlus Analysis will provide head teachers with clear information demonstrating how their centre has performed in all Edexcel GCEs and GCSEs. It will generate simple reports that compare results against the national average and other types of centre. ResultsPlus Analysis will show how students have performed in each subject, providing question-by-question level detail at both cohort and individual student level.

Centres teaching Edexcel GCSE Maths and Science specifications will also have access to an additional service – ResultsPlus Skills. ResultsPlus Skills generates skills maps which reveal how students (both as a cohort and individually) have performed according to the area of knowledge being tested. By presenting detailed information about students’ strengths and weaknesses, ResultsPlus Skills will enable teachers to provide a personalised learning environment.

In addition, Edexcel is offering all GCE and GCSE students the opportunity to receive detailed results information directly. The online results service – which centres may chose to opt in to – is called ResultsPlus Direct.

    See www.edexcel.org.uk/resultsplus for further information.

The same user name and password you have for these forums should let you log into Results Plus.
