... usually about 10 - 12 bullet points completed in circa 15 minutes.  The one sheet thing is to curtail them from reproducing the entire scenario.  Encourage them to adhere to only points relevant to the problem they are to solve.

They can be found here: http://www.edexcel.org.uk/quals/gce/ict/adv/9751/ then click on secure data files at the top right.  You will need to log in using an edexcel online account.  Hope this helps!

I have a solution that make in the region of £7 million profit.

I have lots of resources including a sample completed Excel workbook with comments and also exemplar questions for the probable activity 2 and 3.

I will email them to you. Please do not distribute the workbook to students as I am not sure this is giving them too uch help!

Send a paypal donation to discodancers@hotmail.com if you wish and I will use it for my school ICT fund.

    Thanks

All the actual examination files are password protected. I am not sure when/how we will be given the password - maybe to exam officer?

Is it not the same password as is mentioned for the practice data files in the scenario?  If it is then the password is edexcel.

    nellis:

This is our third year running this exam and my understanding is that it is only one side.  Our students have always done well so they are obviously writing enough!

Thanks for that info - it was my suspicion that this was the case.  It was the use of the word 'sheet' that threw me.

I have discovered that to get the examination files without password protection, our examination officer had to log into edexcel sucure content area and then download the files.

.... you do know that only the person who is ensuring the files are compatible with your systems should really have access to them prior to the examination?  They are not for general release, and definitely not for the students!!

Does anyone have  any thoughts on the sample  data file?

The top data row is mostly zeroes, it looks to me as though there is some sort of transposition error

    Thanks

I don't think it is an error, if you look at the data they are potential sales, if they are priced at those prices, ie 0 all 300 houses/flats would sell. That my thoughts.

Unit 3 The Knowledge Worker may 08

I've managed to work on the sample files for unit 3 and have got the students working on the model and finding possible combinations of housing.  The main questions seem to be fine from the files given but if the same pattern of questions is followed as in previous years (which we were told at an exam session) then the second question should be about evaluating sources - this has baffled both of us who teach on the course - there doesn't seem to be a selection of sources to evaluate.  Does this mean they will get an extra file in the exam itself or can anyone make any suggestions for this part?

    cheers
