Learners are expressing an increased interest in the subjects taught within 3D Design and after they have completed GCSEs are looking at courses in Colleges and 6
th
Forms which offer elements of Architectural, Product and Interior Design in particular. This GCSE provides a good grounding for the AS/A Level in 3D or a BTEC National course in 3D/Architecture/Interior Design
If you currently teach Design & Technology GCSE and feel that it is becoming less popular with your learners you may wish to consider the Edexcel GCSE 09 in Three Dimensional Design. This can be taught as a Short or a Full Course and has a choice of specialisms within the endorsement including jewellery, scenography and ceramics – but it is the two units which have more in common with Design & Technology,
Product Design and Architectural, environmental & interior design
which could provide a really exciting and creative alternative!
