Hi Gareth Thanks for this Gareth - I'm really glad to hear that some guidance may be "on the way" as it does seem daft that we have pretty much been left in the dark so far regarding assessment of this unit. I've been fully behind DiDA since the start but it does seem odd that providing guidance on assessing a brand new unit appears...

Just teaching the causes of the Great Depression - the idea of spending ages doing the + and - of New Deal filled me with horror. Main reason for only doing one is that my students will stand a better chance if they specialise in just one topic.

Thanks Mark, This will be extremely helpful! Can I clarify. Are able to recieve copies of student papers now, that we might put in for remarking? Or will requesting the papers preclude us from requesting remarks? regards Steve

In broad terms, the greater maturity of the students, the greater chance they have of success with something that's worth 60% of the final grade. That points to Year 11 but that's a pressurised year for students and there are demands made by many subjects. Summer term of year 10 is often favoured and some centres start towards the end of Year...

Have taught (or in process of) both - as it is the 40 mark question, did not want to take risk of only picking one and then the question being difficult to access - at least if both are taught, then they have a choice, although I have leaned the teaching more heavily to one than the other
